San Sebastián de la Selva

Location: Cmdte. Andresito, Corredor Biológico Urugua-í Foerster, Misiones, Argentina,
Area: 92ha.
Biome: Atlantic Forest

Main Objectives:  Environmental Regeneration / Conservation, Research / Environmental Education / Ecotourism.

The Atlantic Forest is the most biodiverse ecosystem in our country, but also one of the most threatened and degraded in the world. It is estimated that currently only 7% of its original coverage remains.

Since its creation in 2009, the San Sebastián de la Selva Nature Reserve has protected almost 100 hectares of this environment, working on the ecological restoration of what used to be the old cattle plots of the original farm, a practice that caused the complete deforestation of 30% of its total area.

Today, with more than 10 years of work in the regeneration and conservation of the Atlantic Forest, it has become a reference, combined with other programs aimed at research, environmental education and ecotourism.
